Call To Order:

Chair, Barry Massoudi called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm at Beth Brennenís home, 4140 96ht Ave. SE, Mercer Island, Washington.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Barry Massoudi, Beth Brennen, Sandra Schilling, Peter Langmaid,  Judy Leithe, Katalin Pearman,  and Councilman Steve Litzow:  Absent Cathey Carnes

Staff Present: Jennifer Berner

 

Appearances:

No appearances.

 

Minutes:

It was moved by Member Beth Brennen to;

Approve Regular Meeting Minutes of November 9, 2005 as written.

It was seconded and the motion passed.

 

Chairís Report:

Barry stated that the Executive Committee had met and went over the budget for 2005 and made some adjustments for the upcoming 2006 budget year.  Barry reported that the Arts Council stayed within budget for 2005.  Barry proposed that they move forward in 2006 with the same programs as in 2005.

 

In preparing the 2006 Work Plan for City Council, it was suggested that the timeline of Arts Council events be included.

                                   

Literary:

Judy reported the Winter schedule was out and passed out flyers to the Council.  Judy also updated the Council that she was going to discontinue the Book Club function and focus on doing more meet the author sessions.

 

The Arts Council would like to go on record.  They would like to see a special area, such as a bulletin board,  at the Community Center,  for information regarding Arts Council activity that is ongoing in the community.


Public Art:

No Report.

 

Performance Art:

No Report.

 

Gallery:

It was noted that there was a great article in the Reporter on the France Art Exhibit.  Beth passed around a sample of the exhibit brochure that she designed and Eileen developed.  Beth reported that the France delegates were very pleased with the hanging of the art.  Beth shared that it cost $15,000 to ship the art from France to Mercer Island.  The show will be on exhibit at the Community Center through March and then some pieces will be at City Hall and other pieces at the Library.

City Council Report:                

Steve Litzow reported that the Community Center opened with great success and the Sister City Art Exhibit was a great addition.  Steve mentioned that the City Council retreat will be on January 13 and 13 at the new Community Center and that any of the Arts Council members are welcome to attend.
