Call to Order:
Chairman Bryan Caditz called the meeting to order at 7:36 PM in the Council Chambers, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, Washington.
Chairman Bryan Caditz, Vice-Chair Marcia Dawson, Commissioners Emmett Maloof, Commissioner Lucia Pirzio-Biroli, Callie Ridolfi, Carla Weinheimer, and George Wittman were present. There were no absences.
Shelley Bolser, Contract Associate Planner and Katie Knight, Assistant City Attorney were present.
There were no changes to the minutes of October 26, 2005. The minutes were approved by consent.
Action Item #1:
The applicant, Montesano Condominiums, requested Design Commission approval for a driveway entrance and garage door that would be 16 feet wide instead of the required 20’ width. The project is located at 7549 SE 29th St.
Shelley Bolser gave the staff report and noted that the proposal was subject to Design Commission review due to a code requirement. Staff recommended approval of the proposal with no conditions.
Jim Manro, President of the Montesano Condominium Board at 7549 SE 29th St, #405, gave the applicant presentation.
There were no public comments.
Commissioners had questions and comments about the following items:
· The plans submitted with the proposal are copies of plans from the past building permit. The only item up for review is the garage door entry.
· The City Engineer has reviewed the application and approved it
The applicant and staff provided clarification for the Commissioners’ information.
The motion passed by a vote of 7-0.
Commissioner Pirzio-Biroli noted that the Sustainability Education Group is scheduled to present a recommendation to the Planning Commission on January 18, 2006.
Next Regular Meeting:
There are no items scheduled for the next meeting. The next regularly scheduled Design Commission meeting following that will be February 8, 2006.
There were no planned absences for the February 8, 2006 meeting.
