Paul distributed a revised trail map with newly named trails in Pioneer Park. This map will be available to the public in the trailhead map holders. The newly named trails will make it easier to pinpoint locations for park maintenance issues such as fallen trees. Paul needs to add a north directional arrow to map.
Those assigned to do the quadrant monitoring will test the map while doing their monitoring walk and give feedback to Paul via e-mail.
NE Quadrant – Fletch Waller
NW Quadrant – Fletch Waller
SE Quadrant – Tina Lanzinger
Those monitoring will use the new map. All monitoring reports need to be e-mailed to Paul.
Fletch advised that in the NE Quadrant in the overlook area there’s a broken railing. Staff will report this to the Parks Maintenance team.
Post storm monitoring assignments:
SE – Bruce Bassett
NW – Don Cohen
NE – Fletch Waller
Trustee Cohen abstained from this discussion.
Pete reported on Corinne McNeeley’s request for using an existing bench in Pioneer Park and adding a plaque and dog ornamentation in memory of a deceased friend who often walked her dogs in Pioneer Park. Based on the Parks Department’s Memorials and Donations Policy, she can make a donation in the amount of a new bench and the Department will supply a plaque for the existing bench but no special ornamentation will be approved; or she could purchase a new park bench to be placed somewhere else in the park pending the Board’s approval of the location.
The Board discussed the booth layout and supplies needed. Staff will provide copies of the Board brochure and trail maps as well as a large oversized version of the map. Chairperson Moore requested photos of people doing activities in the park. A sign-up sheet for booth work shifts during the Summer Celebration! weekend, July 8 and 9, 2006, will be e-mailed to Board members by Chairperson Moore.
Adjournment: 9:25 p.m.
