Call To Order |
The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. at the City of Mercer Island Caucus Room, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA.
Commissioners Blakney & Maehara. Chief Elsoe, Police Commander Holmes, Commander Mauldin, Chief Examiner/Secretary Segle, and Personnel & Training Sergeant Burns. Absent: Commissioner Hill.
Approval of Minutes:
Moved by Maehara and seconded by Blakney to approve the minutes of March 14, 2006 as corrected. Motion carried.
Chief Elsoe reviewed the personnel orders with the Commission.
Police and Fire Rosters:
Chief Elsoe reviewed the Police and Fire Rosters with the Commission.
Expire Current Entry-Level Police Officer Eligibility List:
Sergeant Hyatt reported that five of six candidates on the current entry-level eligibility list have failed the background process. Staff asked permission of the Commission to begin the process of establishing a new eligibility list in anticipation of filling two upcoming vacancies.
MOTION: Moved by Blakney and seconded by Maehara to permit staff to establish a new Entry-Level Police Eligibility List. Motion carried
Review Revised Civil Service Rules:
Staff reviewed the recommended changes to the Civil Service Rules with the Commission. The Commission discussed the proposed changes. Commissioner Maehara directed staff to change the pronouns throughout the document to, “he/she”.
MOTION: Moved by Blakney and seconded by Maehara to approve the recommended changes to the Civil Service Rules as amended. Motion carried.
