Civil Service Commission - Minutes Tuesday, July 11, 2006
Call To Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:11 p.m. at the City of Mercer Island Caucus Room, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA.
Commissioners Blakney, Hill & Maehara. Chief Holmes, Police Commander Burns, Chief Examiner/Secretary Segle, and Personnel & Training Sergeant Hyatt. Absent: Chief Mauldin.
Approval of Minutes: Moved by Blakney and seconded by Hill to approve the minutes of May 9, 2006 as submitted. Motion carried.
Chief Holmes reviewed the personnel orders with the Commission.
Police and Fire Rosters: Commander Burns reviewed the Police Rosters with the Commission. Chief Examiner Segle reviewed the Fire Rosters with the Commission.
Certify Entry-Level Police Officer Eligibility List: Sergeant Hyatt updated the Commission on the background process of the candidates on the current eligibility list. He explained that there were concerns that several of the candidates may not make it successfully through the background process. Chief Holmes requested that the Commission consider giving staff permission to conduct another testing process, provided that the current listís candidates fail the background process.
MOTION: Moved by Blakney and seconded by Maehara to certify the entry-level candidate Police Officer Eligibility List and permit staff to establish a new list provided that the candidates of the current list fail the background process. Motion carried.
