Call To Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m. at the City of Mercer Island Caucus Room, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA.

Roll Call

Commissioners Blakney, Hill & Maehara. Police Commander Burns, Chief Examiner/Secretary Segle, and Personnel & Training Sergeant Hyatt.
Absent: Chief Holmes and Chief Mauldin.

Regular Business

Approval of Minutes:
Moved by Maehara and seconded by Hill to approve the minutes of July 11, 2006 as submitted. Motion carried.

Personnel Orders:
Chief Examiner/Secretary Segle reviewed the personnel orders with the Commission.

Police and Fire Rosters:
Commander Burns reviewed the Police Rosters with the Commission. Chief Examiner Segle reviewed the Fire Rosters with the Commission.

Fire Promotional Testing Process:
Chief Examiner Segle explained that the current promotional list for the Fire Department has expired and itís time to engage in a new promotional testing process. The promotional testing process would consist of a written exam, Officer review, and assessment center, which would be facilitated by Jack Lyons and Associates. The City has used Jack Lyons and Associates for all promotional testing processes over the last 10 years and the cost would be $2,500. The final score for each individual taking the test would be broken down as follows: 25% written exam results, 25% Officer review results, and 50% Assessment Center results.

MOTION: Moved by Blakney and seconded by Maehara to permit staff to engage in the Fire Promotional Testing Process. Motion carried.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 5:00 p.m., in the Caucus Room at City Hall.
