CALL TO ORDER:|
Chairman Bryan Caditz called the meeting to order at 7:31 pm in the Council Chambers, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, Washington.
Chairman Bryan Caditz, Vice Chairman Carla Weinheimer, Commissioners Lucia Pirzio-Biroli, Emmett Maloof, George Wittman, and Scott Kuznicki were present. Council Liaison Dan Grausz arrived at 8:10 p.m. There was a quorum.
DSG Director Steve Lancaster, City Attorney Bob Sterbenk, Senior Planner George Steirer, and Planner Matt Torpey, were present.
Agenda Item #1: BRE Properties Inc., Final Design Commission Approval
Matt Torpey, DSG Planner provided a brief overview of the project, and discussed how the current proposal meets the conditions of approval issued at the Preliminary Design Commission Meeting.
The applicant’s representatives from Mithun Architects provided a presentation and overview of the project and discussed how the project met the conditions of Preliminary Design Commission approval.
The Commissioners asked several questions of staff and the applicant regarding landscaping, the Significant Public Plaza and the main entry architecture.
Chair Caditz opened the open record public hearing for public comment. No public comment was given. The hearing was closed.
There was brief discussion among the Commissioners. Commissioner Wittman moved to approve the project as presented. Vice-Chair Weinheimer seconded. The Commission voted unanimously to approve the proposal.
Agenda Item #2: 2802 and 2808 61st Ave SE – Four Plex Study Session
The applicant, Jim Gottesman addressed the Commission regarding a proposed Four Plext Condominium Building proposed for 2802 and 2808 61st Ave SE. The applicants answered questions of the Design Commission regarding landscape buffer requirements, site access, parking, building height, building context to adjacent properties as well as streetscape and building massing.
Scheduled Absence of Commissioners: None
Staff Comments: DSG Director Steve Lancaster presented the Commission with a code interpretation for Wireless Communication Facilities.
Council Liason Update: Council Liason Grausz briefed the Commission on current issues before the Council including the recent election and traffic issues.
Next Regular Meeting: The next regularly scheduled Design Commission meeting is November 28th, there is no scheduled item for this meeting.
Chair Bryan Caditz adjourned the meeting at 9:15 PM.
