Access for All
Manny gave a presentation on “Access for All”, a vision to create funding for arts, science and heritage organizations.  King County passed legislation for Access for All in May, and it will go to the voters on the August 1st ballot.   If passed, it will create an additional 1/10th of one penny in sales tax for a term of seven years.  Mr. Cawaling gave an overview of how the program will work and how the funds will be allocated.

In closing, Mr. Cawaling said that his purpose in being here today is to be sure Arts Council members are aware of this program. And, encouraged everyone to vote in favor of Access for All in August.

  • Angelina Odievich – July 20, Electro Swing Band
  • An Tootill – July 27, Chris Staples
  • Matt Lome – August 3, Joe Ross and Birdwatchers
  • Angelina said that if no one else volunteers, she will introduce Woodland West on August 10.

Public Art, Erin Vivion, Chair
Greta Hackett Outdoor Sculpture Gallery Sign – There are two signs being discussed.  One would be similar to all of the Mercer Island Park signs, blue with just the name of the park on it.  A second sign would contain more information about the gallery, who Greta Hackett was, and why a park is being named after her.
The Arts Council agreed they would like to start out with the more informative sign first.  Kai is waiting to hear from the Parks Manager how long it will take to get the sign made.

In terms of next steps, Erin will work on the text, and Kai will check with the Parks Manager to see if the city has a sign template.

An Tootill asked Kai for an update on where we are with the individual sculpture signs.  Kai reported that an additional three stories have been added to STQRY.  Once the remaining stories are added and we have the QR codes, the signs can be ordered.

Draft Sound Transit Letter for City Council - Joy Langley indicated that the Sound Transit letter is still being worked on, and they will have something for consideration at the next meeting.
