Phil moved that the February 13th minutes be approved as amended. Motion Carried. In the future any documents that have been approved during a meeting will be attached to the minutes.

Recapped financial report.

Chair Report

Rosalie King
Recapped the annual report. Jennifer Berner has extracted a 2002-work plan from the five-year plan. Both the work plan and annual report will go to city council on 4/1. Yarden Weidenfield has resigned from the Arts Council

The five-year plan should always be reviewed and used as a working document. Phil moved to make the immediate past chair of the Arts Council a member of the executive board for 1 year following their chair term. This would be an ex officio position on the executive board. Motion Carried.

Performance Arts Report
Beth Brennen/Debbie Hanson
The Performing Arts Committee met on 3/6 to start the selection of groups for MMIP. They have raised $3500 in sponsorships to date. Captain Smarty Pants was a success with 150 people attending, and netting the Arts Council a profit of $780.

Public Art Report

Amanda Clark
The Gallagher Hill Call for Artists is in the mail. The Veteran’s Memorial Committee met and developed a plan. The Memorial Policy committee will meet toward the end of March, when everyone is in town. Paul Weiden gift—working on getting details coordinated. The repair of Now We Are One is still in process.

Literary Report

Beth Brennen
Maggie Bennett will appear on Saturday, March 16th, 10:30am, CCMV. The Teen Fiction contest awards will be announced on March 20th.


Heidi O’Brien
Heidi read the slate for the executive board and took nominations from the floor. Phil nominated Susan Landon to Chair and Debbie to Secretary. Slate was approved by voice vote as follows: Susan Landon, Chair; Amanda Clark, Vice-Chair; Debbie Hanson, Secretary; Phil King, Treasurer.


Linda Lacey
Hongduan Yang sold one piece profiting the gallery $750. New show is Donna and Dan Leavitt, “A Memorial Show for Dan.” Linda discussed a possible exhibition with the Smithsonion Travel Exhibit of “At the Controls,” photos of aviation cockpits. This show would cost $2500 to exhibit, and needs to be hung differently because of the size of the pieces. Discussion was held regarding all the aspects of this show. Phil moved that we approve a $1000 deposit for the “At the Controls” to reserve the show. Motion Carried.

Community Arts

The Artist Directory will be going to a graphic artist to be published. Volunteer judges are needed for the 8th congressional district high school students art competition.

The 2002 work plan was handed out. A copy will also be e-mailed to members to make changes and have back to Jen by Wednesday, March 20th.
