The meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M. at the City of
Mercer Island Caucus Room, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA.
Commissioners Maehara and Hill, Chief Elsoe, and Personnel
and Training Sergeant Burns.
POLICE ENTRY LEVEL TESTING:
Chief Elsoe explained to the Commission that one person was hired off of the last list approved by the Commission. Chief Elsoe also indicated that the other two candidates remaining on the current Police entry level list did not satisfactorily pass the interview process with him and Commander Holmes. Chief Elsoe also advised the Commission that he anticipates several officers leaving the Department within the next few months.
Chief Elsoe asked the Commission to do two things: First, to pass a motion ending the term of the current Police entry level eligibility list, and second, to approve the Department to proceed with a new entry level oral board process to interview approximately the top 24 candidates on the list provided to the Department by Public Safety Testing.
MOTION: Moved by Commissioner Maehara and seconded by Commissioner Hall to end the term of the current Police entry level eligibility list and to allow the Department to proceed with the Oral Board process for interviewing approximately the top 24 candidates on the list provided by Public Safety Testing. The motion was voted on and passed unanimously.
