A: For assistance with raccoons and other wildlife, you may call the Wildlife Center/Rescue Agency, 360-435-4817, or the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife, 425-775-1311.

Q: I had a recent water leak, can I get an adjustment to my water bill?

A: If you recently had a water leak and now have that leak repaired, please call 206-275-7784. The repair will be checked and an adjustment, if applicable, will be made to your water bill.

Q: Where can I get curbside garbage & recycling information?

A: 

The City of Mercer Island contracts curbside garbage and recycling services with Eastside Disposal. Click here to see single-family residentail garbage and recycling information or call 206-682-9730 to set up service.

Missed pick-ups should be reported immediately: Call 206-682-9730 or email Allied Waste. Any missed containers will be collected by the next business day.

Q: I'm going to be digging on my property. What do I need to know about underground utility lines and pipes?

A: To determine if there are easements on your property, please call the Development Services Office, 206-275-7605.

To request underground utilities be located/marked, call 1-800-424-5555. This is a free service for citizens.

Q: Where can I dispose of household hazarous waste?

A: For disposal of household hazardous waste, call King County at 206-296-4692, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or visit King County Household Hazardous Waste Management Program for disposal facility locations and the Wastemobile schedule.

Q: Where can I find out about City recycling events?

A: The City holds two special recycling events each year, typically one in May and the other in September. A variety of hard-to-recycle items are collected at these events, including appliances, scrap metal, plastics not accepted at the curb and batteries.

 

The dates for the upcoming recycling events and a complete list of the items that are collected at each event will be posted on the City's web site as soon as the information is available. The events are also promoted through the Mercer Island Reporter and direct mailings to Island residences.

Q: There appears to be a water leak of some sort in the City right-of-way, who do I call?

A: The City of Mercer Island Public Works Department is available to receive requests for services Monday through Friday, except holidays, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You may call the office at 206-275-7608 or send an e-mail to publicworks@mercergov.org. If you need immediate assistance, after normal business hours, please call 425-577-5656.
