Debbie was elected to City Council in November 2011. She has previously served as Chair of the Open Space Conservancy Trust, Board members of the Mercer Island Pre-school Association and Emmanuel Day School. Having moved to Mercer Island as a child in 1976, she graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1982. Debbie has received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stanford University and was named one of 10 Outstanding Undergraduates acknowledging her contributions to the quality of undergraduate life. In 1988 she was awarded a Rotary Graduate Scholarship from the Mercer Island Rotary Club and in 1999 was awarded a second masters degree in economics from University of Sussex in the UK.
She is currently Director of Innovation, Mobility for Avanade Inc., a Microsoft – Accenture joint-venture. Previous to this position Debbie has held senior positions with Microsoft and Oracle both in the US and overseas. She has worked and lived in Austria, Germany, South Africa and Singapore. Debbie has focused on technical and economic development, government relations, and business/operations management. After an extensive overseas career, Debbie returned to the US and Mercer Island with Microsoft in 1999 and resides on First Hill. She and husband Brian have 2 young daughters and Bernese Mountain dog, Buzz.
