Jeff Sanderson is the co-founder of Sanderson Ventures and Stopskyís Delicatessen (now reincarnated as Stopsky's Pickles & Preserves). After graduating summa cum laude in economics from Princeton University in 1981, Jeff worked at Bain & Company, and attended Harvard Business School for a year before taking a summer job at Microsoft in 1984. He wound ended up staying 17 years at Microsoft in a variety of marketing and business development capacities, including being on the teams that create and launched the first versions of Microsoft Word for Windows and Microsoft Office for Windows.
After leaving Microsoft in 2001, Jeff received his Masters in Teaching from Seattle University in June, 2003. He then became a member of the founding faculty at Eastside Preparatory School, where he taught math and history at the middle school for 6 years and served as Dean of Academics. Still a Washington State Certified Teacher, he has tutored in the Youth Tutoring program at Yesler Terrace. Jeff served for 6 years on the board and Executive Committee of the Seattle Symphony and the board of the Overlake Hospital Foundation, where he co-chaired the Capital Campaign that led to the construction of the hospitalís South Tower and new Emergency Room.
Jeff and wife Lara have lived on Mercer Island since 2011. Upon moving to the Island, they opened Stopskyís Delicatessen in the Town Center to build community and celebrate his Jewish heritage. Lara serves on Mercer Islandís Design Commission and the Liaison Group of the Town Center Visioning project. Both are involved in local efforts in affordable housing, health care, and inner city education.
