City Offers Free Public Concerts in July and August

Mercer Island Parks and Recreation and the Mercer Island Arts Council proudly present Mostly Music in the Park, a free community concert series featuring music from around the globe. Concerts are open to the public and take place on Thursdays and Sundays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Mercerdale Park, in the heart of downtown Mercer Island (77th SE Street and SE 32nd Avenue).

Mostly Music in the Park is a special time for families and friends to get together and share the pleasure of watching outdoor concerts in Mercerdale Park. This year's program of nine concerts is varied and fun, including Beatles music; a twenty piece, all female jazz band; '60s rock 'n roll; rhythm and blues; swing music of the '40s -- and more. The music is always appropriate for families," said Beth Brennan, the immediate past chair of the Arts Council and coordinator of this year's Mostly Music in the Park concert series.

Produced by the Mercer Island Arts Council, Mostly Music in the Park began as the Discover Music Series in 1982. The name changed to Mostly Music in the Park in 1986 and is the first repeating program produced by the Arts Council, with support from Island businesses and organizations.
