Update on Hiring Process for Permanent City Manager

July 27, 2016 - Following an extensive City Manager interview process that occurred in early May, 2016, the City Council declined to offer employment to any one of the four finalists.  As a result, Council initiated a new recruitment process that is being managed internally, and the position was reopened on June 18.  To date, the City has received 35 applications for the position, which closes July 31.

The Council anticipates a new slate of strong candidates to consider from this secondary process, and the City has scheduled a public reception for finalists at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center on Thursday, September 22, from 6:00-7:30pm (subject to change).  All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend to interact with the candidates under consideration.  The formal interview process is currently scheduled for Friday, September 23.  For further information, please contact Kryss Segle, Human Resources Director at (206) 275-7792.
In the meantime, the position has been filled temporarily by Interim City Manager Pam Bissonnette from July 1 through November 30, 2016, taking over from the previous six-month Interim Manager Steve Lancaster.

“We look forward to the completion of the formal interview process and naming a new permanent City Manager” said Mayor Bruce Bassett.
