Excess Yard Debris Dropoff Locations and Possible Windstorm

Feb 9, 2017 - At this time, all major roads, including West Mercer Way, are cleared and passable following the clean-up from this week's heavy snow event.

The City has established two temporary locations where residents can drop off excess yard debris and tree limbs as they clear up their property.
  • North End: Homestead Park (8100 SE 40th Street)
  • South End: South Mercer Playfield (8220 SE 78th Street)
With heavy rains expected until Friday, the City asks residents to make sure storm drains in their neighborhood are cleared of leaves, and also advises that landslides may be possible in the next 24 hours as spoils become more saturated.  Residents living in a location where these are a known problem should be especially alert.

Tomorrow, the tail end of this storm system will bring winds gusts of up to 45 or 50 mph on Mercer Island and this may once again lead to toppled trees, especially those that are already weakened by the snow event. A Wind Advisory is in place from 8:00am-3:00pm for Friday, February 10.
