Operational Changes to City’s Food Pantry

Food Pantry Parking
New Food Pantry Location
Mar 17, 2020 - Today, the Luther Burbank Administrative Building closed to the public and staff, and the City’s Food Pantry was re-located to the nearby Community and Event Center (8236 SE 24th Street). The Pantry will have the following “drive-up” hours: Tuesdays (10am–1pm) and Thursdays (1pm-4pm); services are also available by appointment.

Food Pantry clients should park in the marked parking spaces (highlighted on the attached map) and Youth & Family Services Department staff will meet them at the vehicle; please have identification available. Food Pantry services are available to all Island residents, please contact Cheryl Manriquez, Emergency Assistance Coordinator at, to be added to the approved list.  Residents in need of other emergency assistance resources should also contact Manriquez, or call 2-1-1.  The 211 service is a free, confidential, referral and information helpline that connects people of all ages nationwide to the local health and human services they need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The MIYFS Food Pantry has also shifted operations to offer only gift cards to patrons. To donate $25 or $50 food cards to our operations, please use the new dropbox inside the City Hall lobby (9611 SE 36th Street) or mail them to MIYFS (2040 84th Avenue SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040). Please contact Tambi Cork, Community Development and Administrative Manager, at for questions regarding food pantry donations and operations.

Closing the Luther Burbank Administrative Building allows the City to conserve scarce cleaning and sanitizing supplies, and relocating the Food Pantry allows for drive-up service and mandated social distancing for all patrons and staff.
