Pioneer Park Forest Management Plan
The final Pioneer Park Forest Management Plan (below) as presented here was adopted by the Open Space Conservancy Trust at its November 6th, 2003 meeting. It was approved subsequently by the Mercer Island City Council on December 15th, 2003. It contains all of the components of the draft plan that was presented to public in September 2003. Several components have been either added or modified in response to feedback from the public review process that was conducted.
New project work will begin in 2004 to control invasive plants and establish new trees in the northwest and southeast quadrants. Parks and Recreation staff and the Open Space Conservancy Trust board are seeking partnerships with community volunteers for these projects to extend available funds. Please contact us at 206.275.7833 if you would like to help.
With the completion of the Pioneer Park Forest Management Plan, planning work for the park has concluded. Pioneer Park Master Plan (Part 1) and Pioneer Park Master Plan (Part) 2 develops the recreational features of the park, while the Forest Management Plan protects the natural resources of the park.
The following ten documents contain the entire text of the Pioneer Park Forest Management Plan. Each document can be downloaded individually at the bottom of this page.
