New trails are coming!

Mercer Island Park and Recreation is building new trails and upgrading existing ones to improve the recreation and transportation uses of trails in the public parks and open spaces. This work is made possible by King County’s Regional Parks Proposition 2 funding which voters approved in August 2007. This levy included money allotted to each city in King County specifically for trails acquisition and construction.

Parks that have proposed new trails include Luther Burbank Park, Aubrey Davis Park, Upper Luther Burbank Park, Engstrom Open Space, Gallagher Hill Open Space, SE 47th Open Space and Island Crest Park.

Existing trails may be closed or inaccessible for periods while work is underway. Please excuse the inconvenience.

To find out more, contact Paul West, Parks Natural Resources Coordinator at 275-7833.
