Plan Review Target Times

MIePlan Submittals

Review target timelines are listed below. Staff reviews applications in the order received according to these prescribed target timelines. During periods of high review volumes, these targets may be adjusted.

The target times for the initial building code plan review are as follows:

Normal-routed Plans:

Type MIePlan Submittal
Normal-routed Single Family 6 weeks
Normal-routed Multi-Family 8 weeks
Normal-routed Commercial 8 weeks
Corrections or Revision Cycle 2 weeks

Express-routed Plans:

Type MIePlan Submittal
Express-routed Single Family 3 weeks
Express-routed Multi-Family 4 weeks
Express-routed Commercial 4 weeks
Commercial Tenant Improvement 2 weeks
Corrections or Revision Cycle 2 weeks

Note: Applications submitted are reviewed for completeness prior to routing. Once all documents required to complete the submittal have been received, the routing period will begin.  Some projects require the approval of a formal Intake Screening prior to routing.

Does my residential project qualify for express routing?

Project scope will determine the routing timeline.  A residential application may qualify as an express permit when all of the following conditions are met:
a. The proposal is for 500 square feet (sf) or less of additional floor area, and
b. Any increase in building height is below the highest point of the existing building, and
c. There is no reduction in any existing side yard, and
d. The proposal does not increase impervious surface or lot coverage by more than 100 square feet, and
e. The permit valuation is $100,000 or less.
