Leap for Green Family Fair - April 26

Leap   Presented by Island Vision and the City of Mercer Island
Time:  12 - 4 pm
Location:  Mercer Island Community and Event Center
Learn. Act. Impact! That’s the focus for the annual Leap for Green Earth Day Fair. Join us for this fun-filled day of children’s activities, entertainment, food and information as local vendors and entertainers share how kids and adults can Learn, Act, and Impact sustainability in the community.
Super Cool Science Show presented by the Pacific Science Center 12:30 pm.
Mercer Island’s own, musician Nancy Stewart, 2:30 pm.

National Kids to Parks Day!
Join National Park Trust, Buddy Bison, the Mercer Island Parks & Recreation Department, and kids across America for a fun day of outdoor play! As Buddy Bison says,“Explore outdoors, the parks are yours!”

Pledge to take your kids to a park on May 17 by registering HERE and you will be entered to win a GRAND prize from the National Park Trust!

National Trails Day & Letterboxing - June 7
Celebrate the trails of Pioneer Park while hunting for hints and clues! Pick up your letterbox clue book, make a stamp and start hunting! Pioneer Park has 6.6 miles of trails for hiking, running and walking. Come outside and play! Meet us in the NW quadrant along 68th (across from Starbucks).
Time:  10 am - 12 pm

All Island Track Meet (Finals) - June 13
It’s the 44th Annual All-Island Track Meet for 4th and 5th grade boys and girls who attend Lakeridge, Island Park, St. Monica’s or West Mercer Elementary Schools. Participants will be assigned to their events through a qualifier held during their PE classes. Contact your PE teacher for more info.
Time:  1 pm - 3:30 pm

Mountains To Sound “Greenway Days” - June 21 & 22
From the peak of the Cascade Mountains to the shores of Puget Sound, communities along I-90 will celebrate the beauty and amenities that the Mountains to Sound Greenway system provides. Greenway Days activities and events are designed to get participants off the beaten path to explore the region’s natural, historic, and cultural treasures. All Ages. FREE!

Summer Celebration! July 12 & 13
Summer Celebration! is celebrating the Pacific Northwest in 2014 to coordinate with the State of Washington’s 125th Anniversary. Enjoy throwbacks from Washington’s past including lumberjacks and gold panning, to modern day fun from around the state. www.misummercelebration.com. Location: Mercerdale Park with Fireworks at Luther Burbank Park on Saturday night.

Thank Our Veterans! - July 12
Once again, the Veterans from the Island will lead Mercer Island’s Summer Celebration parade through downtown Mercer Island. They will march to the entrance of Mercerdale Park and meet at the Veteran’s Pergola for a grateful community’s chance to say “Thank You!” Blue Star recognition included.

Camp Burbank Community Campout - August 9 & 10, 12 pm - 12 pm
Camp Burbank’s Community Campout is a great way to “get away from it all” and still be close to home. We do all the hard work like cooking, cleaning and coming up with FUN things for you to do. All you are responsible for is your tent, personal items, and sleeping bags! Activities will include fishing, beach play, swimming, volleyball and more, all in beautiful Luther Burbank Park! Campsite, Saturday night dinner, smores, snacks, drinks and Sunday morning breakfast provided. Children must register with an adult. Meet us in the meadow!
