Building Plan Review & Inspection Services Team
This team is charged with the goal of protecting the community during the development of property and providing an acceptable living environment for the citizens of Mercer Island. We are committed to ensuring that property is developed and maintained in a safe manner, and supporting the economic strength of the City by promoting quality construction.
Our goal in presenting this website is to provide an effective and efficient way to answer frequently asked questions and provide general information about the permit center, the process for obtaining building permits and standard requirements. However, if you do not find what you are looking for or have further questions, please feel free to contact us at 206.275.7605
We provide services that include permit intake and issuance, plan review, code enforcement, and field inspections. Some of the permits we handle are new single family residences, tenant improvements, signs, new commercial/retail/multi-family projects, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. Eighty percent of the team's work is the review, issuance and inspections for single family residential permits, many within critical lands. The team is also responsible for review of multi-family, shoreline and commercial development projects. In addition the team will play an important role in the building construction review and inspection of major public projects.
