Volunteer Opportunities
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities through the Parks and Recreation Department. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Jeannette Eggebrecht, at (206) 275.7841.
The mission of the City of Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Department Volunteer Program is to actively promote a mutually rewarding relationship between volunteers who offer their talents, skills and time and staff who will support them in their efforts to cooperatively foster stewardship of our community's parks, natural area, and recreation and social programs. Youth under 18 also fill out an Authorization to Consent to the Treatment of a Minor Volunteer. Anyone who will be driving, or working with children or vulnerable adults must also fill out an Authorization to Check Background and Driving Record
People volunteering for individual or self-scheduled activities fill out an Hours Report Form each month and return it to the Volunteer Coordinator, where adults volunteering for group activities sign in on a Volunteer Activity Assumption of Risk Waiver and Release for Adults. Youth under 18 fill out a similar Volunteer Activity -Youth form where a parent must give permission for their child to participate. When an accident occurs, an Injury/Accident Report Form should be completed.
