Mercer Island Youth & Family Services (MIYFS) mission is to provide, coordinate and advocate for affordable, high quality human services for the community of Mercer Island. We are here to help...
MIYFS provides family and community services and collaborates with others to develop and deliver services to the Mercer Island community. Our services span generations and address Mercer Island's human service needs. We help individuals, families and the community at large build upon strengths, identify problems and choices and share resources. Services are supported as a public/private partnership through the City of Mercer Island, the Mercer Island School District, King County, the MIYFS Foundation, private contributions and grants, fundraising and special events and revenues generated by our volunteer-based Thrift Shop.
Our services include individual and family counseling; senior adult outreach; elementary, middle school and high school counseling; alcohol and drug prevention and intervention services for youth; juvenile court diversion services; family assistance and support; employment services; volunteering and leadership development; and advocacy and community planning. MIYFS also contracts with area service providers to deliver specialized sexual assault, domestic violence and legal resource services.
Youth & Family Services Department is located within Luther Burbank Park in the historic Luther Burbank Park Administration Building located at 2040 - 84th Avenue SE. If you have questions about our department or would like information, e-mail us or contact us at (206) 275-7611.
The MIYFS Foundation is one of our primary sources of revenue. At the website, you can view information about upcoming events, our current fundraising efforts and view a list of current board members. Please visit that site at http://www.miyfs.org/.
