Tana Senn was appointed in January 2012 by the City Council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former mayor Jim Pearman.
Tana comes to the City Council with a background in communications and government relations, having worked as a consultant and marketing director for nonprofits and foundations in the Seattle-area for 10 years. Before moving to Seattle, she was the national domestic policy director for Hadassah.
Prior to joining the City Council, Tana served as a board member for the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. She currently serves on the Island Park Elementary School PTA Executive Committee and as its legislative representative. Tana is also a Cub Scout den leader, art docent and occasional contributor to Mercer Island Patch.
Tana has a Masterís degree in Public Policy and Administration from Columbia University and a bachelorís degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She was a Coro Fellow.
Tana and her husband Kevin have a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Rachel, who attend Island Park Elementary School. Rounding out the family is Buddy, an 85-pound black lab.
