Tana Senn recently won election to her first full term on the Mercer Island City Council. She served two years prior to her election after her appointment in 2012.
Tana has a background in communications and government relations, having worked as a consultant and marketing director for nonprofits and foundations in the Seattle-area for 10 years. Before moving to Seattle, she was the national domestic policy director for Hadassah.
Prior to joining the City Council, Tana served as a board member for the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. She is very active in the Mercer Island community. Tana served on the Island Park Elementary School PTA Executive Committee, as the school's PTA legislative representative and as an art docent and reading volunteer. She has also worked on numerous political campaigns to improve Mercer Island.
In 2013, Tana was appointed to the Washington State House of Representatives representing the 41st Legislative District, which includes Mercer Island.
Tana has a Masterís degree in Public Policy and Administration from Columbia University and a bachelorís degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She was a Coro Fellow.
Tana and her husband Kevin have a son, Benjamin, at Islander Middle School and a daughter, Rachel, who now attends West Mercer Elementary School. Rounding out the family is Buddy, a 95-pound black lab.
