Jim Pearman originally moved to Mercer Island in 1969 where he attended Mercer Island schools and graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1976. After college and a hotel career in Chicago, Washington DC, and Atlanta he returned to the Island with his wife Katalin in 1987, and has lived on the Island ever since. They have two daughters 13 and 2 years old. Jim currently works for the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs as the Recruiting Manager for the Executive Education Program.
Prior to being elected to the Council in November 2001, Jim served as Chair of the MI Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, President of the MI Parks and Recreation Foundation, and Co-chair of the Mercer Island Community Center Ad-hoc Task Force. Jim represents Mercer Island on the Suburban Cities Board of Directors, Eastside Transportation Partnership, as well as the Board of Directors of the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Economic Development District. He has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.
