Mercer Island Comprehensive Plan

Comprehensive Plan Update

What is the Comprehensive Plan?

The Comprehensive Plan is a fluid document that addresses the issues pertinent to the City of Mercer Island with regards to five main arenas: Land Use, Housing, Transportation, Utilities, and Capital-Facilities. The Growth Management Act of 1990 mandates that the City update its Comprehensive Plan every 7 years, as the community's goals, conditions, and needs may vary. It is important to not only focus on the plan itself but on the actions that must be implemented to build upon it, including but not limited to revising zoning, participation in regional forums, and investment in capital facilities. The Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 2005.
