Chairman Ron Kaufman called the meeting to order at in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 9611 SE 36th St.Mercer Island, WA.
Ron Kaufman, Robert Sexton, Richard Erwin, Bob Burd, Ron Rosie.
Charles Gnehm, 7001 SE 32nd Street, complained about the amount of his water bill and wanted an explanation of the various charges. He has his bill paid automatically and wants that information to be shown on the water bill.
Board members listened to his questions and discussed the various issues with him.The Board directed staff to look into the issue of showing the automatic bill payment information on the bill.
The Minutes of the October 17, 2000 meeting were approved with the following changes.
1.Add a period to the following sentence on the first page. “Mr. Ted Weinberg, a customer of Eastside Disposal and Island resident, attended the utility board meeting to protest the $18.12 monthly increase for his private drive pick-up.”
2.Under the Item “Future Water Rates”.Change the date May 2001 to May 17, 2001. Change the phrase “and revisit the water rates next year” to “and to revisit the water rates next year’”
Item 1Presentation of Water Comprehensive Plan policies, focusing on policiy issues, fire flow policies and the cross-connection program.
Shaunie Cochran, Project Engineer for the City made an executive summary of the Water Comprehensive Plan that is being submitted to the Department of Health.
There were no changes suggested by the Utility Board.
Item 2Discussion of the Water Conservation Plan and Education Program.
Glenn Boettcher, discussed the Water Conservation Marketing Plan and described the various postcards that are being mailed to the residents.The City has also had the “Be Responsible” logo put on the City Utility vehicles and is doing signage in the parks about watering policies.
