Chair Barry Massoudi called the meeting to order at at the Mercer Island Library on Mercer Island, Washington.

Richard Hart presented the sculpture bench project to be done at the Newell Court Apartments.George Ma and the Design Commission are looking for guidance from the Arts Council for two benches in the sidewalk right-of-away in front of the Newell Court building.The Design Commission and Newell Court Developers asked for guidance on size, location and material of the benches. It was decided that the benches are to be of stone.Once the exact stone is chosen, a couple of Arts Council members will consult with the Design Commission on the exact placement of the benches.Discussion was held and it was suggested that Richard and George view the two Hoge bench sculptures in the Outdoor Gallery. The council suggested a size of 48’-60” and depending on the size and shape, if possible placed at an angle.
There was no motion to approve the November meeting minutes.
Jennifer handed out the financial report.
Barry handed out a 2004 budget review defining costs by program.Jennifer handed out the 2004 retreat recap for members to review and discuss at the January meeting.
Beth attended the King County Performance Network meeting to view the site specific performance tapes.Jane Meyer traveled to the City’s Sister City Thonon and visited an art museum of lithographs that she’d like to see us have an art exchange with.She suggested having it during the opening of the new Community Center in 2006.The idea was well received.Diane mentioned that the Seattle Co-Arts has been invited to show in Jan. but that can be changed.Beth will research the logistics and get back to council.
Judy and Katalin reported the December 5th showing of Casablanca went well.December 18th will be an all day tribute to Cary Grant, showing a number of his films.Volunteers are needed to help that day.
Jennifer distributed an update of timesheet hours and asked everyone to look it over and give her any changes, corrections or updates.And also reminded members to submit their completed hours to Eileen for the Annual Report that goes to City Council.
Jennifer handed out budget.The 2003 annual report was distributed for members to edit and update for the 2004 report.The 2005 program detail was also handed out for review.
