Restoration Event | Pioneer Park

Thursday, May 23, 2024 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm

Volunteers posing in front of a pile of pulled up weeds.

Join us for a Thursday work party in Pioneer Park. Pioneer Park is one of Mercer Island’s most well-used parks, and it could use your help! Much of the habitat is being threatened by non-native weeds, such as ivy and blackberry. Ivy plays a big role in local habitat destruction by pulling down trees, shading out native plants, and reducing biodiversity. Join in our efforts and help to create a healthier forest.

All ages welcome, and no experience necessary! Gloves, tools, water, and small snacks provided.

  • When: Thursday, May 23rd, 4pm-6pm
  • Where: Pioneer Park NE, Meet at the corner of Island Crest Way and SE 68th St. Follow VOLUNTEER EVENT Signs
  • What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring water. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.
  • Registration: volunteersignup.org/TEP7D
