Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a rolling 6-year plan updated annually with a focus on maintaining the existing transportation network and improving it in a thoughtful, safe manner working within the financial constraints of the Street Fund and other funding sources. The TIP covers City roadway, pedestrian, bicycle and other transportation projects.

State law requires that the TIP be updated and adopted by elected officials annually. The City Council typically adopts the TIP each spring after public comment.

The public comment period for the 2025-2030 TIP is OPEN NOW (March 20, 2024)
To submit your feedback, visit https://letstalk.mercergov.org/tip-2024 . Comments received by May 15^th will be included in the materials for the June 4^thpublic hearing during the City Council meeting. The public comment period will remain open until June 18^th, 2024.

The TIP typically includes the following categories:

Residential Streets Preservation Program
- Roadway resurfacing and substandard street upgrade

Arterial Streets Improvements
- Roadway resurfacing and reinvestment in existing Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities (PBF)

New Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities (PBF)
- Creation of new pedestrian and bicycle facilities (e.g. paths, sharrows, paved roadside shoulders, bike lanes, crosswalks)
- Signage and pavement markings
