Sewer Repair Permits

Single Family Side Sewer Repair Permits

The following work can be conducted with an self issued Side Sewer Repair Only permit obtained online at www.mybuildingpermit.com.  This permit is only available for Single Family Residences.  All other side sewer permits will require plan review.

  • Side sewer repair 
  • Side sewer replacement  
  • Installation of a sewer liner  
  • Installation of clean-outs  

A Single Family Side Sewer Repair Only permit can be obtained online at www.mybuildingpermit.com.  Choose the "Utilities" application type and follow the prompts to obtain the permit.  To review the permit conditions that will be on the face of the Side Sewer Repair Only Permit, click here.

Note:  If the side sewer line crosses over a neighboring property, the owner and their contractor must ensure that there is an easement for the sewer line in order to work on the neighboring property.  

Multifamily or Commercial Side Sewer Repair Permits

Multifamily or Commercial Side Sewer Repair Permits require a plan review.

Provide a site plan/sketch to indicate location of work.  Indicate property lines to demonstrate whether work is on or off property.

How to Apply

          To submit, email the permit application and site plan to epermit.tech@mercerisland.gov.

Related Applications

If work is located in the City Right of Way, a Right of Way Use Permit is also required.
