2024 National Night Out

Mark your calendars for National Night Out 2024 - Tuesday, August 6, 2024!

Celebrating Community-Police Partnerships on the First Tuesday in August

National Night Out (NNO) is a community-building event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August annually in cities across the country.

The event is designed to increase awareness about police programs like the Neighborhood Watch Program, drug prevention, Paws on Patrol, emergency preparedness, and other crime prevention and safety efforts.

How does it work? Community members host an event where neighbors have the chance to get to know each other and build community. Once your event is scheduled, you can contact the City to arrange a visit from Police, Emergency Management, or Fire personnel. They will provide a brief presentation and materials to share with the group.

What is a neighborhood event? Neighborhood events can be as simple as backyard cookouts or block parties, it's up to you! If you are hosting a block party (blocking any part of the street/right-of-way) please fill out this free permit so our Public Works and emergency personnel know your street will be inaccessible.

I'm ready to host an event, what's next? Contact Amanda Keverkamp to arrange a visit from emergency personnel: emergencymanagement@mercerisland.gov.
